Kidnapped from fresh blue river water to salty green sea, must Mermarella really become something she is not to achieve her dream? Or might her differences enchant and inspire the creatures of the sea? This underwater Cinderella story combines puppetry and shadow theatre. Aimed at thinking families and the young at heart of all ages, this comic well-known tale is transported to its original origins of Egypt, but given a modern day outcome.

An introduction to new and exciting animals from around the world, The Cryptid Petting Zoo gives the audience a chance to interact with some very unusual creatures, including the extremely rare Mongolian Death Worm and our loveable Giant Beast. See these Mythical Monsters up close and learn more about them from our specially trained handlers, including the opportunity to ask questions and care for the animals.

A gentle journey through fabulous shadow lands with two amazing shadow hands. Shadow crabs creep from the sea, a shadow monkey does a hula-hoop dance and a shadow man goes riding on a great, big shadow camel. 'My Shadow and Me' is like a cartoon created live out of nothing but darkness and light. One person and his shadow meet and go on an incredible, shadowy journey where creatures emerge, engage and transform beautifully. Performed by Drew Colby, a man who can do almost anything with his hand shadows. Be amazed by his enchanting shadow animals and join him on this delightful imaginative adventure. Stick around after the show for a short workshop included in the ticket price!

Be enthralled by this epic musical folktale told on a miniature scale. "A Heart at Sea" uses haunting live music to tell the story of a young Boy who bottles up his heart and throws it into the sea. Intricate puppets are swept through a transforming wooden world created by the spectacular chest. Be astounded as backdrops flip up, pirouette and change, sending the Boy tumbling through danger and discovery. Puppets roam on this unique contraption to recount the story of whales, tiny boats, sea captains and beards. Join our hero as he embarks on a wild, nautical journey to recover his missing heart. This is a piece of stunning visual storytelling and intimate gig-theatre that will resonate with all ages.

Design and make your own puppet. Choose materials and add your own nose, eyes, mouth, ears, hair, hands and costume. No two puppets will look alike! Book early to avoid disappointment. A parent / carer is welcome to stay and support their child/children.

NOTE: unlike the shows, adults do not need a ticket for the workshops if supporting a child.

The magical world of "The Insect Circus" invites the audience to forget reality and become immersed in the strange and beautiful world of insects. Beetles and grasshoppers, wasps and dragonflies, demonstrate their dexterity with great skill and humour. Presented using marionettes and live accordion music, the show breathes new life into the traditional techniques used in Victorian trick marionettes. Based in London, String Theatre presents performances using long-string wood-carved marionettes on a custom-built touring stage.
