Moving Parts Arts is looking for an enthusiastic North East-based intern aged between 18-30 to assist in producing the upcoming Moving Parts: Newcastle Puppetry Festival 2019. This exciting opportunity will give the successful participant insight into the inner workings of a medium-sized grassroots arts festival and give experience in producing, arts administration and communication under mentorship from the Artistic Director.

 

Newcastle Puppetry Festival is biennial celebration of puppetry, visual theatre, mask and stop motion spread across five venues in the city centre. The festival aims to develop visual theatre in the North East for adults, children, families and communities. The programme includes national and international performances, professional training, talks, films, networking events, community projects and a research conference. 

 

TIMELINE

66 hours on a flexible basis between January - April 2019

SUPPORT GIVEN

£9.00 per hour

 

LOCATION

Studio D, Alphabetti Theatre, St. James’ Boulevard, Newcastle, Tyne & Wear, NE1 4HP

Please note that regrettably the studio is not wheelchair accessible. 

SUPPORTED TASKS WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Website content writing and updating

  • Artist Liaison and scheduling

  • Seeking quotes from suppliers

  • Venue Liaison

  • Minute taking in meetings

  • Online marketing tasks

  • General administration tasks

 

EXPERIENCE GAINED

  • An insight into the organisation process of a medium-sized grassroots arts festival

  • Mentorship from the Artistic Director

  • Experience in arts administration, producing, marketing and events management

  • Communication with artists, suppliers and partners

  • Public-facing written and visual content creation

  • People management tasks

 

WE ARE LOOKING FOR NORTH EAST-BASED YOUNG PERSONS (aged 18 - 30)

  • looking to develop skills in arts administration, producing and events management 

  • interested and invested in the local arts scene

  • with an interest in theatre and the arts

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Good written, numerical and communication skills

  • Good punctuality and commitment 

  • An urge to learn and develop skills

  • Experience of working or volunteering with arts organisations (not essential)

  • Experience with Wix website management (not essential)
